Looking ahead to the week, the forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms across the city by Tuesday, with rainfall expected to range between a quarter and half an inch. By midweek, the weather is predicted to clear up, with a sunny Wednesday and temperatures reaching the mid-80s, offering a brief break from the recent wet conditions.
For beachgoers and surfers, a High Rip Current Risk is in effect today in areas including Kings (Brooklyn), Southwest Suffolk, Southeast Suffolk, and parts of Queens. The National Weather Service warns residents about the increased danger of strong rip currents—fast-moving channels of water flowing away from the shore—that can pose serious hazards if precautions are not followed. The NWS advises everyone to exercise caution when entering the water.
