A Seattle man faces serious charges after prosecutors allege he led a burglary spree targeting homes of professional athletes. A 21-year-old Earl Henderson Riley IV has been charged with multiple counts of residential burglary and first-degree robbery by the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, as per KING 5's report.
The string of burglaries, which began in February, included the theft of luxury items such as Louis Vuitton bags and high-end purses, and jewelry totaling in excess of $200,000. According to Newser, the burglaries victimized Seattle Mariners stars Julio Rodriguez and Luis Castillo, among others. Some of the stolen items were discovered in Riley's residence or with family members, who claimed they were received as gifts.
Prosecutors also tie Riley to suspects in a triple homicide outside a Seattle nightclub. Notably, they found that Riley's cellphone was located near the athletes' homes during the times of the burglaries, while home surveillance footage showed the suspects with frequency jammers and weapons. In one instance, "Riley is also accused of robbing someone at gunpoint inside Sherman’s home during the burglary," KING 5 adds.
Riley, who has a prior criminal record including three guilty pleas to robbery counts, is now held on $1 million bail. According to KOMO News, a "dark-colored 2011-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with unique wheels, and chrome accents" was also linked to facilitating the crimes. His arraignment has been scheduled for June 16.
