Authorities are currently investigating a violent stabbing incident that took place yesterday morning in Seattle's Yesler Terrace neighborhood, which resulted in a 58-year-old woman being seriously injured. The Seattle Police Department (SPD) was called to an apartment complex on the 1100 block of Fir Street after a neighbor dialed 911 upon the victim seeking help at their door, suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to a report from SPD Blotter.
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 12:56 a.m. and discovered the woman on the third floor with severe injuries to her neck, face, arm, and leg. They proceeded to quickly provide medical aid to try and stabilize her condition until the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) medics took over lifesaving efforts. Subsequently, the victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where she was reported to be in serious condition. Police believe that the attack was initiated by her 33-year-old daughter, who allegedly stabbed her with a butcher knife inside the apartment and continued the assault in the complex's hallway.
The SPD confirmed that the suspect had fled the area before their arrival and despite a thorough search of the vicinity with the help of Real Time Crime Center personnel, the suspect remained at large. "Domestic Violence Unit detectives are handling the investigation and working to determine what led to the assault," SPD Blotter stated.
As the police continue their investigation into the stabbing, they are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. Individuals with details that might help the police in their search for the suspect are encouraged to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. The police have not yet released information on the potential motivation behind the attack or any updates on the woman's condition following her admission to the hospital.
