A shooting event on Aurora Avenue in North Seattle yesterday has led to the arrest of a suspect by Seattle police SWAT. According to the Seattle Police Department Blotter, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when a 26-year-old man was shot in the ankle. The suspected shooter fled the scene on a bicycle heading westbound on North 100th Street, prompting a manhunt.
The suspect was initially reported to be armed and dangerous, further escalating the urgency for his apprehension. Law enforcement swiftly enacted a containment strategy in the surrounding area, aided by an SPD K9 unit and personnel from the King County Sheriff’s Office. Backed by these efforts, the Real-Time Crime Center was also to rapidly assist in the suspect's search. The investigation soon escalated when SWAT was called to respond.
The injured victim received immediate medical attention and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. Authorities informed that he sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and is currently stable. Approximately two hours into the manhunt, SWAT successfully took the suspect into custody near North 96th Street.
