Residents of Seminole County were put on high alert after a malfunction at the Southeast Regional Water Treatment Plant led to a precautionary boil water notice being issued. According to ClickOrlando, the issue was serious enough to cause a significant drop in water pressure, falling below 20 psi, which can allow contaminants to enter the water system. The power was restored, and officials acted quickly to flush the distribution system.
The notice, as per WFTV, which was relayed to county residents via a Facebook post, detailed the steps taken by county officials to ensure safety, including the commencement of a bacteriological survey to determine when it would be safe to lift the boil water advisory—residents were advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes, or use bottled water as an alternative until the advisory is rescinded.
A boil water advisory is still in effect while officials wait for test results. Once the water is confirmed safe to drink, the County will notify residents. Until then, everyone should follow safety guidelines to protect their health.
