Two years after a fatal accident stirred the Orange County community, justice appears to be inching closer for the family of Lindsey Delgado, the young woman whose life was cut short due to a street-racing incident. According to ClickOrlando, 22-year-old Jose David Gomez Urban and 21-year-old Diego Andres Victoriano Abreu have been arrested. They are facing vehicular homicide charges for their alleged roles in the accident that occurred on June 17, 2023.
Urban is said to have been driving a Toyota MR2, while Abreu was in a Mini Cooper, racing down J. Lawson Boulevard when tragedy struck. Urban's vehicle reportedly failed to navigate a turn and collided with a palm tree, which critically injured Delgado and eventually led to her death four days later. The two men, who were initially held without bond in Orange County, had their bond later set at $25,000 as they await further legal proceedings.
The case, which had grown cold over the intervening months, received renewed attention in January 2025 when it was reassigned to a new investigator. This perseverance led to a critical breakthrough, with traffic camera footage and witness testimony underpinning the charges against Urban and Abreu. The reports cite speeds estimated between 92 and 100 mph in a 40-mph zone at the time of the incident.
As the legal process unfolds, the victim's mother, Mayra Rodriguez, has shared her grief and her daughter's unrealized dreams in a statement detailed by WESH. "She was a sweet, sweet girl. She was planning to study astrology," Rodriguez recounted. With both defendants having entered not guilty pleas, this case continues to bring into sharp relief the enduring pain of a family left to mourn in the wake of senseless speed on a stretch of road meant for far slower transit.
