
In a swift response to a violent episode that rocked the Fillmore community, Ventura County law enforcement officials announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on April 15. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department confirmed that two victims suffered stab wounds in an altercation taking place in the 400 block of Mountain View Street.
The initial reaction from Fillmore Station deputies came immediately upon the incident's report, finding one male victim with a stab wound at the scene, with the second victim presenting himself at the Fillmore Police Station shortly thereafter. Both victims received emergency medical transportation to a local hospital. Over the six-week investigation period, multiple units, including the Fillmore Bureau of Investigations and the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit, worked ceaselessly, executing several search warrants and gathering crucial evidence.
Eighteen-year-old Brayan Alvarez was arrested by detectives on May 29 for attempted murder under Penal Code § 664/187 and for suspected gang involvement in the stabbing under Penal Code § 186.22(b)(1). "He was transported to the Main Jail, where he was booked pending court proceedings," the sheriff's report stated. Following his arrest, the District Attorney's Office proceeded to charge Alvarez with assault with a deadly weapon as outlined in Penal Code § 245(a)(1).
Further to this, an arrest warrant was issued for Julio Hernandez, also 18, who was apprehended on June 5, while the third to join the list of suspects, 44-year-old Manuel Rodriguez, was arrested shortly after for being an accessory after the fact, as defined under Penal Code § 32. Both suspects, like Alvarez, were booked at the Main Jail as they await their court proceedings.
