Following a coordinated effort by the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, Bryan Police Department, and College Station Police Department, three Houston men have been arrested in connection with a spree of residential burglaries in the Bryan-College Station area. The arrests, which were made possible thanks to surveillance footage and community tips, have ended a series of audacious daytime break-ins.
Officials reported the suspects, identified as Carlos Daniel Cordova-Valencia, Jann Hayler Cuero-Garces, and Bryan Fernando Nunez-Arboleda, operated using a deceptive tactic where one would knock on the front door posing as a service worker, while the others would prepare to forcefully enter from the back if no one answered. According to a statement obtained by Click2Houston, the men were caught after Bryan police spotted a white Ford F-150 in a neighborhood recently hit by burglaries and then conducted a traffic stop in College Station.
All three men were arrested and booked into Brazos County Jail for attempted burglary and possession of criminal instruments. Furthermore, additional charges are considered as the investigation progresses, and Cordova-Valencia is also facing an assault involving family violence charge from Harris County. Investigators are linking the trio to a broader criminal group out of Houston that may be responsible for similar daytime home burglaries.
The multi-agency investigation received a tip that was to eventually lead to a high-risk traffic stop and arrests without incident, as per an interview conducted by KBTX. Seth Waller from the Bryan Police Department shared, "The mode of operation: It’s all been the same. We’ve been getting intel that it’s people in high vis vests (common construction employee gear), pretending to be construction workers or may look like construction workers in the area, and they’re going in backwards and forcing entry into these homes during the day."
While the investigation continues, authorities have emphasized the importance of community vigilance in reporting suspicious activities. Items recovered from the suspects included gloves, masks, and tools commonly utilized in burglaries, and there is evidence that these men have been targeting jewelry, gold, firearms, and other valuables. Local residents are advised to utilize home security options and to stay alert of their surroundings.
