
A standoff in Washtenaw County began with a domestic incident and ended with one person in custody, local authorities say. On Tuesday morning, the Northfield Township Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a woman being forced into a vehicle by a 36-year-old man near Main Street and Six Mile Road, according to ClickOnDetroit.
A man fled to his home on Nollar Road, where police made contact with him and a woman inside. The woman was later released and taken for medical evaluation. The man remained inside and refused to come out, prompting additional police units to respond, as confirmed by CBS News Detroit.
A 12-hour standoff in Washtenaw County ended peacefully on Tuesday when a man surrendered. The Washtenaw County Crisis Negotiation Team and Sheriff’s Tactical Unit responded to the incident. Shea Howell, a retired Oakland University professor with the Coalition for Police Transparency and Accountability, said, "Hopefully we're getting into a place where we can always learn from these situations how to be better protectors of the community," as mentioned by The Detroit News. Authorities have not released information about any charges.
