The CEO of West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, was found dead in a Baltimore hotel room on June 9, as per reports from local authorities. Nicholas Manning, 46, was identified as the deceased. According to CBS News Baltimore, Baltimore Police responded to the 700 block of Aliceanna Street at approximately 2:04 p.m. following a report of an overdose. Manning was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was subsequently transferred to the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.
An earlier article by Fox Baltimore noted, "No signs of trauma were observed on the victim’s body," as stated by a Baltimore Police spokesperson. Manning had a nascent tenure as CEO of the Idaho Medical Center, having been appointed in November. His resume includes leadership roles at healthcare facilities in Idaho and Utah, including the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and Ogden Regional Medical Center.
Following the confirmation of Manning's death by his employer, a company spokesperson said, "was a dedicated and mission-driven leader who loved connecting people to our shared purpose." HCA Healthcare's Mountain Division President, Evan Ray, paid homage to Manning's 17-year healthcare leadership, underscoring that he "was a thoughtful and inspirational leader, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives and careers he touched," according to a statement issued by the company and reported by CBS News Baltimore.
Amidst this tragedy, Manning’s family has raised doubts about the circumstances leading to his death, claiming to possess evidence that it was not an accident but rather a case of fraud and homicide. "Our family is committed to pursuing every available legal and investigative avenue to ensure the truth is uncovered and justice is served," the Manning family expressed in a statement detailed by CBS News Baltimore. The police, however, have yet to confirm these allegations, indicating that the investigation is ongoing.
