The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has named Conservation Warden Bradley Dahlquist as the 2024 Warden of the Year, a commendation signifying exceptional public service. As part of the Antigo Warden Team in the DNR's Northeast Region since 2008, Dahlquist was awarded the Haskell Noyes Warden of the Year Award during a ceremony in Antigo on July 12. According to a statement from the Wisconsin DNR, this recognition is steeped in nearly a century of tradition, having been established 95 years ago by Milwaukee businessman Haskell Noyes.

Casey Krueger, DNR chief conservation warden, emphasized that this prestigious annual honor is reserved for a warden whose service is both exemplary and efficient. Capt. Ben Treml, who nominated Dahlquist and works within the same region, described him as a "humble leader with a contagious can-do attitude" backed by a strong drive for public service, as mentioned on the Wisconsin DNR website. It's this combination of qualities that has earned Dahlquist the respect of his peers, superiors, and the community he serves.

Dahlquist has carved a notable presence within Forest and Langlade counties, playing an instrumental role in various capacities throughout his career. The dedication depicted by the warden extends beyond his official duties; he is often the first to volunteer for extra responsibilities and is adept at staying ahead with ever-changing technology to bolster his investigative work, the Wisconsin DNR news release mentioned. His extension into the public space can also be seen through his engaging updates on the monthly Breakfast Club Radio Show on 106 FM Antigo.

Not only has Dahlquist shown commitment to his role in the field, but his respectful and dignified approach when interacting with the public has been noted. Lt. Jacob Cross, Dahlquist's direct supervisor and one of the his nominators, spoke highly of the warden's ability to leave a positive impression on people's perception of both the department and the warden service. "Brad treats people with dignity and respect, often getting a handshake at the end of the contact and changing people's impression of the department and the warden service," said Cross as per the Wisconsin DNR website.
