On Monday morning, an attempted theft at a Truist Bank in Indian Harbour Beach unfolded with a scene right out of a heist movie—but with less success. According to WESH, witnesses and evidence at the scene indicated that individuals dressed in dark clothing and masks tried to forcibly remove an ATM by attaching a chain from the machine to a pickup truck.
The effort to rapidly extricate the ATM met an ironic halt when the pickup truck became stuck in the dirt. In a twist of fate, the mechanical steed that was meant to haul away ill-gotten gains instead anchored the perpetrators to the site of their failed enterprise. "The attempt was unsuccessful after the truck became stuck in the dirt," a news release stated, as reported by ClickOrlando.
The culprits weren't caught unawares for long, fleeing the scene across the street where a dark-colored Tesla awaited them. This getaway vehicle was last seen blazing westbound over the Eau Gallie Causeway. The Indian Harbour Beach Police Department has since requested public assistance in the matter, asking anyone with information to contact Detective Enith Clermont at (321) 773-3030.
