A long-submerged mystery surfaced last week when a van with a body inside was pulled from the waters of Baltimore's Inner Harbor, a vehicle that disappeared in 2014, authorities say. Baltimore Police responded near E. Pratt St. after the van, spotted during a dive training exercise, was dredged up from an approximate depth of 22 feet, as reported by FOX Baltimore.

Divers from the Baltimore Police Department's Underwater Recovery Team initially noticed the vehicle last Monday. Recovered behind the National Aquarium annex on Pier IV, the van belonged to Silver Taxi Cab Service of Waldorf, its identity confirmed by the logo emblazoned across its dirty, broken facade.

According to the authorities, the van was reported missing from Waldorf back in December 2014. The recent grim discovery has sparked community concerns and discussions about safety. "People deserve the right to feel safe, and I hope that as a community we can figure out who this was so that their family can know and give them some peace of mind," Baltimore resident Michael Berger said, as CBS News Baltimore detailed. The body inside the van is still awaiting identification by the Medical Examiner's Office.
