Boulder locals, it's time to have your say. The City of Boulder and Boulder County are rolling up their sleeves to wrestle with the future: housing, transportation, climate, and more. They're calling all community members to pitch in through a series of interactive events this summer as part of the ongoing Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan update, dubbed "A Boulder Direction." According to Boulder County, this phase is all about turning past discussions and visions into concrete strategies.
The comprehensive plan is a fundamental document that drives decisions on development and sustainability in the area, and now the community's input is sought to shape these concepts. The outreach includes skill-building workshops and community-hosted conversations that are not just academic exercises but part of a drive to lead Boulder from vision to an actionable future. The first event, a Skill-building Workshop offering tools for meaningful dialogue, is set for July 15. On August 19, residents across Boulder will join a virtual kickoff and subsequently host discussions in various settings, then gather insights to report back. And, don't forget September 9: a hands-on workshop will occur to refine the bold ideas that have surfaced, with feedback from Boulderites being a key part of the process.
Accessibility and inclusivity are taken seriously. Spanish interpretation is available at all events, and ADA accommodations can be requested by contacting Boulder County directly. More engagement opportunities will continue into the fall, including online interactions and a statistically valid survey, as detailed by Boulder County.
All community members are encouraged to attend these sessions and contribute their lived experience to shape Boulder's future. The whole idea is to create a plan that reflects real life in Boulder, not just some tidy ideas on paper. For those who require assistance in a language other than English or need help due to a disability, dedicated email addresses and phone numbers have been provided to ensure your participation is as barrier-free as possible.
