Authorities have made a breakthrough in a robbery case that unsettled the Northwest neighborhood earlier this year. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the arrest of 25-year-old Zamar Sharpe in connection with the armed robbery that took place back in January. According to the police report, the incident involved suspects who, having exited a vehicle, brandished a gun at the victim and took their property before fleeing in a vehicle.
The original incident that sparked the investigation happened on January 26, around 5:55 a.m. on the 1800 block of 2nd Street, Northwest. Arrested on a DC Superior Court warrant last Saturday, Sharpe is now facing charges for his alleged participation. Charged with Armed Robbery (Gun), Sharpe was taken into custody, effectively grounding the lengthy detective investigation.
Sharpe's arrest followed months of investigative work by Third District officers, who initially responded to the crime scene and later developed the case. According to the MPD's release, the charges against Sharpe resulted from the detectives' investigation. The announcement marks a development in the case that has remained under inquiry since the day of the robbery.
