With high pressure firmly established north of Hawaii, stable weather and trade winds are expected to continue across the islands through at least Tuesday. The National Weather Service in Honolulu forecasts brief passing showers and breezy conditions over the next few days. Most of the showers will occur on the windward slopes, while leeward areas are likely to remain mostly dry.

A high-pressure ridge aloft is stabilizing the weather, resulting in clouds passing through with little impact, especially at elevations between 5,000 and 6,000 feet. Subsidence temperature inversions are expected to remain within this elevation range in a generally dry environment. While some areas may experience wind gusts up to 40 mph, significant precipitation is not anticipated.

For mariners, conditions are expected to be more challenging. Strengthening high pressure to the north is causing trade winds to increase, which may lead to rougher seas. The NWS has issued a Small Craft Advisory in effect through Sunday evening for waters extending from Kauai northwest to the southeast areas near the Big Island. Those planning to go out on the water are advised to monitor the latest wind conditions before heading out.

Surfers targeting south-facing shores should expect declining swell conditions, with no significant increase anticipated until midweek. Meanwhile, east-facing shores are likely to experience rougher and choppier waters due to stronger trade winds. The north shore surf is expected to remain seasonally small.

The NWS highlights a fire weather concern, noting that breezy, gusty, and dry conditions are expected to develop on Saturday and continue into early next week. Outdoor activities in leeward areas may be affected by low humidity and strong winds, creating near-critical fire weather conditions. It is advisable to monitor updates in case conditions worsen.
