A Bronx resident, Timiko Young, 45, has been indicted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident near a gas station on Jerome Avenue. According to a press release from the Bronx District Attorney's Office, Young faces charges of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree.
The charges stem from an incident on October 28, 2023. After refueling her vehicle, Young allegedly struck Jose Galan, who had fallen in front of her car. She then reportedly dragged his body from the gas station across Edward L. Grant Highway for approximately 950 feet. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark stated, “Her alleged actions are egregious and show a lack of humanity.” As per the DA’s office, Young exited her vehicle, saw Galan pinned underneath, returned to the driver’s seat, and left the scene without contacting emergency services.
During her court arraignment, bail for Young was set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or $10,000 partially secured bond at 10 percent, with an upcoming court appearance scheduled for October 29. Bronx Supreme Court Justice Audrey Stone presided over the arraignment. The defendant had claimed her recently purchased Lincoln sedan was neither registered nor insured at the time of the incident.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sierra Fischer of Trial Bureau 50, under the supervision of Trial Division Deputy Chief James Brennan and Chief Theresa Gottlieb. The Bronx District Attorney's Office acknowledged the support of the Vehicular Crimes Unit and NYPD Detective Keith Solomon of the Collision Investigation Squad for their work on the investigation.
