The Columbus Division of Police is actively searching for a group of teenagers linked to a series of assaults and disturbances on COTA buses, according to WBNS. The recent attack, which occurred on June 24 at the intersection of Parsons Avenue and Whittier Street, involved the suspects allegedly harassing and punching a bus passenger in the face and body.
A release of the suspects’ photos follows the beatings, urging community members to step forward with any valuable information. According to ABC6, Columbus Police are depending on the public's help to properly identify the suspects, who, after the assault, were seen fleeing on foot and leaving the victim in a state of distress.
The Columbus Police assert suspicions that this group of teens may have been involved in other similar incidents aboard the city’s transit system. The CPD’s Detective T. Jones is assigned to the case, and individuals with knowledge that might lead to an arrest are being asked to contact him directly, as noted by NBC4i.
The appeal for community assistance emphasizes the importance of the public's role in enhancing the safety of public transportation. "Anyone with information is asked to contact Columbus Police Detective Jones," reports WBNS. Detective Jones can be reached at 614-645-1436, and law enforcement hopes that the surveillance photos and details released will prompt witnesses or those familiar with the suspects to aid in bringing this case to a swift resolution.
