In the aftermath of a fierce storm that swept through DeSoto, the local police department has released an update on their ongoing cleanup efforts. The DeSoto Police Department noted that numerous trees were felled by the storm, causing blockages and damage in multiple neighborhoods. Street crews have been actively clearing the debris since the night of the storm and have made substantial progress as of their latest updates.

Specifically, the areas of 900 block of Valley Ridge, 900 N. Young, 500 S. Elerson, and 500 Midway have been cleared, while the 200 Hanna remains troubled by water flooding. The 600 block of Mistey Glenn has also been cleared. Notably, the area at N. Wintergreen across from N. Westmoreland, though initially cleared, requires additional cleanup. Furthermore, the 100 block of Meadowbrook has been attended to and is now accessible.

On the previous day, high wind damage had prompted a response from both police and fire departments in the Ray Andra/Woodlawn area. The intersection of Woodlawn and Ray Andra, along with other locations such as 908 N Young and 612 Misty Glenn, saw significant tree falls. The police department erected safety barricades to prevent access to these hazardous areas. Fortunately, amidst this disruption, no injuries were reported, and the street crews were deployed to clear the thoroughfares and alleviate any traffic issues.

Residents and commuters have been urged to steer clear of affected zones to facilitate the cleanup process and to ensure safety. For emergencies, the public is to call 9-1-1, while non-emergent concerns can be directed to the non-emergency number at 972-223-6111.
