Last night, a four-alarm fire raged through a string of single-story commercial buildings in Middle Village, Queens, leaving six firefighters with minor injuries. As reported by ABC7NY, the fire initiated shortly before 11:15 p.m. in a store on Dry Harbor Road and rapidly spread to neighboring shops via the cockloft. A total of seven establishments were affected by either flame or smoke. Three injured firefighters were treated at Elmhurst Hospital, while another three received care at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills.

According to QNS, members of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) encountered heavy smoke and intense flames upon arriving at the scene. The fire, believed to have originated at 64-76 Dry Harbor Road, proved difficult to contain, ultimately forcing firefighters to evacuate the buildings as the blaze spread into the cockloft and broke through the roof.

The FDNY deployed six hoselines and four tower ladders to contain the fire, gaining control by 12:25 a.m. Searches conducted throughout the affected buildings returned negative results. The FDNY Fire Marshals are continuing their investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
