NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that former Raiders tight end Darren Waller is coming out of retirement to join the Miami Dolphins. The New York Giants, who he briefly played for, are trading Waller along with a 2027 seventh-round draft pick, according to News 3 LV.

Darren Waller is returning to the NFL. Originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015, Waller saw a breakout with the Raiders starting in 2018, including back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. His career was later impacted by injuries and a brief tenure with the New York Giants, leading to his retirement in 2024. Now, he is set to make a comeback. "Surprise! The Dolphins are finalizing a trade with the New York Giants for former Pro Bowl TE Darren Waller, who is coming out of retirement to play in Miami, per sources," Pelissero told Sports Illustrated.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Miami Dolphins are acquiring tight end Darren Waller from the New York Giants. "Trade: Dolphins are trading a conditional 2026 sixth to the New York Giants for a 2027 seventh-round pick and Darren Waller. Waller is coming out of retirement after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Dolphins worth up to $5 million, per Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey," Schefter stated, as mentioned by Sports Illustrated.
