Escalating from a tense altercation to unlawful threats with a deadly weapon, former Raleigh police officer Wesley Lane faces a grim chapter after his unsanctioned encounter at a Dunn eatery. As per a recent CBS 17 report, Lane, who has since resigned, was arrested on July 2 following a June 25 incident at Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse where he brandished a knife and allegedly threatened a man with disabilities.
It is said by the Dunn police that the confrontation arose when Lane accused the man of "touching his daughter", which led to the former officer threatening "to cut the victim’s throat." These charges, one count of assault of an individual with a disability and one count of communicating threats, are misdemeanors, as detailed in the arrest warrants, CBS 17 reported.
Lane's tenure with Raleigh Police Department ended amidst this turmoil, culminating in his resignation on Monday during an internal investigation, ABC11 reports. The ordeal shadows a career lasting since 2010, now seemingly tarnished by these recent allegations.
