In a display of unity and remembrance, Fort Worth residents have begun tying green ribbons around trees to honor the victims of the recent Texas Hill Country floods. According to the City of Fort Worth, the community is encouraged to participate by obtaining ribbons from the City Hall, signaling their support for those affected by the natural disaster.
The City of Fort Worth is providing these ribbons from Wednesday, July 9, through Monday, July 14, during regular business hours. Fort Worth Police and Fire Departments are further extending support through a donation drive coordinated with the City of Kerrville and the Salvation Army. To further aid recovery efforts, the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country is accepting monetary donations for the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, which promises to allocate resources to verified organizations aiding in rescue and recovery operations in hard-hit locations such as Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort.
"Let’s tie ribbons around our trees — and wrap our community in care." This emblematic gesture serves as both a visual expression of empathy and a beacon of collective resilience amidst the hardship. Residents inclined to contribute more tangibly can visit City Hall or join the ongoing donation initiatives spearheaded by local emergency response teams, per the City of Fort Worth.
