A 6-month-old girl has died in Belcamp, Harford County, after being left in a hot car. As reported by WBAL-TV, the Harford County Sheriff's Office responded to the 300 block of Hampton Hall Court for reports of an unresponsive child, where deputies and first responders attempted life-saving measures, but sadly, the infant passed away.
The death has raised urgent concerns about the risks of leaving young children unattended in vehicles, especially as temperatures soar, with the heat index anticipated to hit triple digits, this becomes a situation where every second counts and even a brief moment could turn fatal, as noted by the WMAR-2 News. This incident marks the second in Maryland this year where a child has succumbed to heat in a vehicle.
No charges have been filed yet as detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office offers caregivers safety tips, emphasizing the importance of "Look Before You Lock" by always checking the back seat and suggesting that a personal item be kept near the child's car seat as a reminder.
