Early morning commuters in Yorba Linda experienced significant delays on the 91 Freeway following a crash involving a jackknifed semitrailer, as reported by FOX LA, the incident occurred near the 241 Freeway shortly after 4 a.m. and resulted in the closure of multiple westbound lanes after the semi's camper caught fire.
Traffic was heavily impacted, with the ABC7 noting that initially, the big rig blocked only two lanes before a complete shutdown of westbound travel was necessitated, , later a single lane was reopened around 6:30 a.m. allowing drivers to pass in a constrained flow, creating a significant bottleneck and miles of backup as the day's commute picked up pace.
The CBS Los Angeles advised drivers to consider alternate routes and expect delays, with backups reported extending to Main Street in Corona. A SigAlert was issued for the area, highlighting the severity of the traffic disturbance.
While all lanes were eventually reopened, the cause of the crash was under investigation and it remained unclear if there were any injuries, the California Highway Patrol confirmed that the driver of the big rig was conscious and breathing following the mishap, details about potential injuries were not immediately disclosed however, the focus promptly shifted to clearing the debris and ensuring the road was safe for travel once again.
