
The Nevada State Police has named Kristen Defer as the new Deputy Director of the Nevada Department of Public Safety. She replaces Sheri Brueggemann, who retired after 20 years in state service. Defer has worked in the department for over 10 years, as reported by the Nevada State Police.
She began working with the department in 2013 and has held roles in the Nevada Highway Patrol, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and most recently served as Chief Fiscal Officer. She also has a background in healthcare administration, working in various management positions in medical offices in Nevada. Nevada State Police Director George Togliatti stated that “strong, experienced leadership is essential to an organization’s success,” and that “Kristen Defer’s knowledge and expertise make her a tremendous asset to both the Department and the citizens of Nevada.”
According to the Nevada State Police on their Facebook page, Kristen Defer has been appointed Deputy Director of the Nevada Department of Public Safety. Upon her appointment, Defer said, “I am incredibly honored and deeply grateful to accept the appointment as Deputy Director. Having proudly served in the department for over a decade, this opportunity is both a personal and professional milestone. I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Nevada with integrity, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to public service and safety.” Defer takes on the role as the Nevada State Police begins a new leadership chapter.
