The National Weather Service in Las Vegas forecasts a cooling trend beginning on Wednesday. While temperatures remain high today, a drop of 4 to 8 degrees from earlier in the week is expected, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service forecasts increasing moisture and a chance of thunderstorms in Northwest Arizona and the southern Great Basin, with early storms likely to be dry and raising fire weather concerns. "With a hot and dry boundary layer, atmospheric profiles will be quite conducive to strong outflow winds which could potentially exceed 50 mph under the stronger storm cores," the forecast stated. Gusty winds are also expected this afternoon through early evening at Harry Reid International Airport, possibly affected by thunderstorm outflows. "Confidence is higher in this scenario, though uncertainty remains regarding timing and precise magnitude and direction of the winds," the forecast noted.
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Fire Weather Zones in Northwest Arizona and Lincoln County due to dry conditions and strong winds, raising the risk of wildfires. "Incoming low pressure will also bring strong surface winds to Esmeralda county. Surface RH will be quite low area wide bottoming out in the 5 to 15 percent range outside of the highest elevations above 10kft," the forecast states. Residents in affected areas, including the Las Vegas Valley, are urged to stay alert and follow fire safety precautions as local agencies monitor conditions closely, as reported by the National Weather Service.
