Tragedy struck a Las Vegas community when a scooter-riding teenager was involved in a fatal collision with a vehicle near East Sierra Vista Drive, west of South Maryland Parkway. The incident, which had left the 16-year-old male critically injured, tragically concluded with his death, as reported by the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner. In the update provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the juvenile succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, four days after the accident, marking the 91st traffic-related fatality in the jurisdiction for the year 2025.
Initial details surrounding the accident, which occurred on the afternoon of July 11, depict the teen riding northbound, allegedly attempting a trick that resulted in him falling into the path of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, the driver of the vehicle was unable to stop and unfortunately ran over the youth. Emergency responders transported the boy to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center's Trauma Unit with life-threatening injuries. The Hoodline reported the collision involved the youth performing stunts in a nearby parking lot which may have led to his fatal mistake.
According to early police reports shared by Hoodline, the crash happened when a teenager came out of a parking lot ramp and into traffic. The driver of the Tahoe, who was turning left, was not impaired and cooperated with police. So far, it looks like the driver reacted to the teen suddenly entering the road.
