The National Weather Service in Las Vegas forecasts hazy skies today and on Saturday due to smoke from nearby wildfires. "Smoke from nearby fires will result in hazy skies at times today and Saturday." Significant smoke near the surface is not expected, but air quality may still be affected, according to the National Weather Service.
Las Vegas will remain hot and dry over the weekend due to a high-pressure system. Temperatures on Sunday and Monday are expected to be 6 to 8 degrees above normal. The National Weather Service states that “Widespread Moderate (Level 2 or 4) HeatRisk is forecasted this weekend and Monday.” After Monday, the high pressure is expected to weaken, leading to slightly cooler temperatures. A small increase in moisture early next week will not bring rain but may reduce fire danger. Temperatures are expected to return closer to normal by midweek, with no rain likely until at least Thursday.
The National Weather Service reports that wildfire smoke may cause some visual obstructions for Las Vegas Valley terminals this evening through tonight, but "most smoke is expected to remain lofted," allowing VFR conditions. At Harry Reid International Airport, winds may vary with stronger gusts during the hottest part of the day. Temperatures are expected to rise above 100°F, reaching around 108°F near 00Z. The National Weather Service also asks trained spotters to report any significant weather.
