A man was stabbed this morning in an altercation near New York's Port Authority Bus Terminal, according to officials. The incident occurred around 10:26 a.m. at the intersection of West 41st Street and Eighth Avenue, AMNY reports. The victim, an unidentified man in his 30s, is said to have been involved in a struggle with another male who subsequently stabbed him in the torso.
Law enforcement arrived on the scene, and the victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital by EMS. Notably, the man who was stabbed is refusing to cooperate with detectives, according to AMNY. There have been no arrests, and the suspect, described as wearing a white tank top and black pants, was last seen fleeing the area on foot.
Witnesses reported a scene covered in blood that drew the attention of bystanders. “I was working in the bank, and I walked out and just saw blood,” an employee at Bank of America told AMNY.
The NYPD responded to a 911 call reporting an assault and found the victim conscious and alert. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition, PIX11 notes. As investigators pursue leads, they have yet to determine what provoked the attack.
Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in tracking down the perpetrator.
