Milwaukee's charitable scene received a significant boost as the MKE 2024 Host Committee redirected surplus funds from the 2024 Republican National Convention to local nonprofits. More than 80 organizations were chosen to receive a share of the $5 million donation. As reported by WISN, the beneficiaries include groups supporting youth, veterans, and shelters focusing on sober living and halfway houses.

Alison Prange, President and COO of the MKE 2024 Host Committee, stated that the purpose has been to "showcase the city, deliver a positive economic impact, and leave a lasting legacy in our community." Hailed by businesses and volunteers, this gesture is seen as fulfilling that promise. Though raised for celebrating a political event, the funds are charted towards Milwaukee's civic enrichment. Swept up in this windfall, organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and Veterans Community Project are amongst the fortunate recipients, as detailed by WISN.

Reince Priebus, Chairman of the MKE 2024 Host Committee, praised the city's spirit and its role in hosting the convention. "Now, thanks to our generous donors, we are able to give back to the city that did so much to help host this world-class event," Priebus told FOX 6 Now. The financial windfall for these nonprofits comes from the surplus of a hefty $90 million fund, surpassing the anticipated $65 million budget set for the convention.

While the donations varied in size, they are aimed at creating a lasting difference within the community. Leading the pack, the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center was granted $275,000, while others like Women and Children's Horizons in Kenosha saw $2,500. According to the Host Committee's Federal Election Commission filing, these erratic disbursements reflect the varied needs and scopes of the organizations in question. "We are hopeful that these charitable contributions will go towards leaving a long-term impact on Milwaukee," Prange expressed in her statement to JSONLINE.
