Travelers in Nevada will need to brace themselves for upcoming disruptions as the Nevada Department of Transportation rolls out its revised schedule for the I-215 Preservation Project. The work is extensive, covering nearly four miles of Interstate 215 between the I-15 interchange and Windmill Lane, with marathon work weekends and nightly ramp closures in the mix, according to an announcement from the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Scheduled road work includes milling and paving the roadway, application of a polymer overlay, and structural repairs. Traffic signals and lighting are due for an upgrade, ITS enhancements are on the table, and improvements for ADA accessibility are also part of the plan. This flurry of activity, weather permitting, is slated to wrap up by winter 2025. Eastbound I-215 will see lane reductions and various ramp closures commencing July 18 through to the end of August, with specifics detailed on the Nevada Department of Transportation's website.
As for the immediate impacts, there are a couple of key dates drivers should be aware of. On Friday, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and ending at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, eastbound I-215 will be pinched down to two lanes from I-15 to Windmill Lane. Come Sunday night, those same restrictions apply until the early hours of Monday. Nightly work will continue from that Monday to Thursday, with westbound I-215 facing similar constraints and ramp closures affecting the likes of Windmill Lane, Warm Springs Road, and the southbound Airport Connector, as reported by the Nevada Department of Transportation.
