The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has made public an updated series of traffic restrictions for Interstate 215, as part of an ongoing pavement preservation effort. According to the NDOT's release, motorists can expect nearly four miles of I-215 between the I-15 interchange and Windmill Lane to see significant improvements. Activities scheduled include milling and paving, applying polymer overlays, and enhancing intelligent transportation systems, among others. Construction should wrap up by winter 2025, weather and on-site conditions permitting.
NDOT's itinerary starts with a "Marathon Work Weekend," beginning Friday, August 1, at 7:00 p.m. and concluding Sunday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m. During this time, westbound I-215 will be reduced to just two lanes from I-15 to Windmill Lane. Additional nightly restrictions are set to quickly follow, encompassing lane reductions on eastbound I-215 and several ramp closures from Sunday, July 27, to Thursday, July 31. Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution, to consider alternate routes, and to stay updated via tools like Waze and the state highway information resources.
As for specific disruptions, expect the eastbound 215 off-ramp to Warm Springs Rd and associated on-ramps to close from the evening of July 27 to the morning of July 28. The pattern of closures and lane reductions repeats itself with slight variations each night, impacting different ramps and leading to potentially slowed traffic on Warm Springs Rd. Additionally, on Saturday, August 2, the Westbound Warm Springs Rd on-ramp to westbound I-215 will also be out of service.
NDOT is collaborating with Waze to actively notify the public about planned highway restrictions, but drivers should also look to utilize nvroads.com or call 511 ahead of driving to get the most current state highway conditions.
