
A team of firefighters, including three from Boulder City and a K-9, is in Texas to assist after floods in Kerr County caused 120 deaths. They are part of "Nevada Task Force 1," the state’s only Urban Search & Rescue team. The 47-person team includes paramedics, communication staff, structural engineers, logistics technicians, and a medical doctor, according to the City of Boulder City.
A task force made up of members from Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, Henderson Fire Department, North Las Vegas Fire Department, and Boulder City Fire Department was sent to Texas to assist with flood response. "The team received mobilization orders this afternoon from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and is expected to arrive in San Antonio, Texas, by Wednesday evening for assignment in Kerr County where catastrophic flooding occurred over July 4th weekend," as reported by the City of Boulder City. The team is bringing boats, trucks, and other equipment, with costs covered by Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The recent holiday weekend floods have led to a nationwide response. Nevada Task Force 1 has been deployed to assist, with "The Clark County Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for NV-TF1. The team is comprised of members from the Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, Henderson Fire Department, North Las Vegas Fire Department, and Boulder City Fire Department, as well as members from multiple other disciplines," as stated by the City of Boulder City.
