As floodwaters recede in Kerr County, Texas, Nevada Task Force 1 has increased its search and recovery operations. The team is examining newly exposed areas such as creeks and shorelines. News3LV reported that all 47 members of the team are in good condition and are working together across different areas of expertise to carry out their tasks.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency deployed Nevada Task Force 1 to Texas on July 8 following severe flooding over the Independence Day weekend. The task force includes emergency responders from various local agencies in Nevada. According to 8NewsNow, the team is made up of personnel and K9 units, including members with technical and medical skills who are assisting in the response efforts.
The task force is operating out of a local school that provides showers, bedrooms, laundry facilities, and ice machines. The logistics team handles food deliveries, laundry, and vehicle maintenance. A caravan of pickup trucks, 18-wheelers, and support vehicles carries the necessary equipment. Nevada Task Force 1 told News3LV, “They are committed to paying attention to detail and improving conditions wherever they work.”
