The battle for Guam was one marked by fierce three-week clashes in the demanding terrains of jungles and rugged hills. As per the White House's release, more than 1,200 American service members and over 1,000 Guamanian residents sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of American sovereignty restoration and liberty.
