The weather outlook shows continued chances of storms throughout the week, particularly in the afternoons and early evenings. In areas already saturated by previous rainfall, isolated heavy downpours may cause flooding of streets and rising creeks, as per the NWS. Nighttime temperatures are expected to drop to around 74°F with calm winds, accompanied by shorter storms and fewer clouds after dark.
Sunday’s forecast indicates a 50% chance of precipitation along with high heat index values. Expected rainfall amounts range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, with higher amounts possible during thunderstorms.
As midweek approaches, the chance of thunderstorms rises to 70% on Monday, mainly after 2 p.m. Light southwest winds offer minimal relief, and higher rainfall amounts are possible during thunderstorms. Most of central North Carolina remains within an area of uncertain weather conditions, according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook from the NWS Raleigh NC.
Residents in Guilford, Wake, and Cumberland counties are advised to stay alert to weather conditions over the next several days. The Hazardous Weather Outlook warns of potential thunderstorms, noting that heavy downpours in urban areas or locations that have already experienced significant rainfall this week could lead to localized flash flooding.
