The city's administrative offices will be taking a day off this Fourth of July. The closure comes as the nation gears up to celebrate Independence Day, but don’t fret if you have urgent matters that day—emergency services will remain on call. According to the City of Raleigh's announcement, for anyone needing police, fire, or rescue services, help is just three digits away; dial 9-1-1.
As for the less urgent but equally necessary routines like trash and recycling, there's a slight adjustment. In observance of the holiday, the City of Raleigh states that "All trash and recycling will be pushed back one day," which means the Friday’s collection will be happening on Saturday.
And for those looking to deal with yard waste, you'll need to make alternative plans. Raleigh's Yard Waste Center will not be open on the Fourth, so it might be a good time to let the leaves lie or wait until the center reopens to dispose of your green refuse properly. The center helps ensure that yard debris is managed in an eco-friendly manner, contributing to the city’s green initiatives.
