Raleigh's young golf enthusiasts have something to look forward to this fall. A six-week golf program, tailored for children aged 6 to 12, aims to teach not just the sport but also valuable life skills. As announced by the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, the Lake Lynn First Tee is a unique blend of physical activity and personal development.

Starting September 4 and running through October 9, every Thursday, the sessions will be split between two locations. Initially, the young golfers will meet at Lake Lynn Community Center, with the adjacent baseball field serving as a makeshift range—or the dance studio if the weather decides not to cooperate. After honing their swings, for the last three weeks, the action shifts to the First Tee of the Triangle Golf Facility, a more authentic setting with the smell of the fairway underfoot and the promise of actual play time.

The holistic approach of the program doesn't come at a steep price. At $20 for the entire course, the organizers have positioned this as an accessible avenue for parents to introduce their children to golf's discipline and the broader life skills that come with it. The sessions are slated to be between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., a time specifically chosen to accommodate school schedules and leave enough evening time for family.

Accoridng to the City of Raleigh, the Lake Lynn First Tee program serves as a character-building exercise. Led by certified First Tee Golf Instructors, the program is designed—according to its own curriculum—to encourage "inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do."

For those interested in registering their children or learning more, further details and contact information are available on the City of Raleigh's website.
