A man with a disturbing past of sexual violence has been charged with the brutal assault and rape of a 15-year-old girl in a Bronx stairwell, barely a month after being released from prison for another heinous act, according to authorities.
Casmine Aska, 29, who spent eight years locked up for sexually assaulting and throwing a boy off a rooftop, now faces multiple charges including predatory sexual assault against a child, rape, sexual abuse, criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child, per the details released by the Bronx District Attorney's office and reported by NY Daily News.
The incident, which unfolded in February 2025, began when Aska and the teenager shared an elevator in an apartment building within Co-op City; once the doors opened, he allegedly punched the girl in the face causing her to fall, and then displayed a knife that he used to force her into an adjacent stairwell where the sexual assault occurred with security footage from the elevator capturing parts of the attack as described in a report from PIX11.
"This is a nightmare for the young victim who was viciously assaulted by the defendant," Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark stated, reflecting on the gravity of the attack, "He allegedly punched her, overpowered her, and took her at knifepoint into a stairwell and raped her, this defendant will now face justice for this heinous act," further amplifying the severity of the crime as reported by NY Daily News.
The trauma for the survivor extends beyond the assault with the victim receiving medical care for her injuries at a local hospital; Aska now awaits his next court appearance set for September, where the legal system will again scrutinize his actions amid growing concerns on the adequacy of rehabilitation and monitoring for offenders released on parole.
