Sharrow Engineering, along with its marine division Sharrow Marine, is charting a bold course in Metro Detroit with the announcement of a significant expansion. This move involves the opening of a new 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located at the Eastland Commerce Center in Harper Woods, once the site of the Eastland Center mall, as reported by CBS News Detroit. Set to start production in September and to become fully operational by December, the facility aims to triple the company's output capacity to keep pace with the soaring demand for its innovative Sharrow Propeller.
Regarded as a significant momentum for propulsion technology and American manufacturing, the new site will boost Sharrow's production capability to 2,000 units per month, catering to performance, commercial, and defense marine markets. This development follows Sharrow's relocation of its headquarters to Michigan Central, further reinforcing its dedication to the Detroit region. "This expansion is a powerful statement about the future of propulsion technology and American manufacturing," Greg Sharrow, Founder and CEO of Sharrow Engineering, shared the enthusiasm for their advancement in the industry and the local economy, as noted by CBS News Detroit. The expansion, and the recent shift of the company's headquarters to Michigan Central, has introduced a new age of innovation and mobility in the area. Collectively, these strategic moves are cementing Sharrow's role in both the community and the broader manufacturing sphere.
Sharrow Engineering's impact extends beyond marine applications to aerospace, defense, and even renewable energy sectors, with the Sharrow Propeller being celebrated for up to 30% better fuel efficiency and a remarkable reduction in noise levels as opposed to traditional propellers. The propeller's design has earned global acclaim and is backed by over 160 patents worldwide, also evident in recognitions such as TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023 and various innovation awards, as mentioned by Sharrow Marine's announcement.
In response to the expansion, Sharrow is on a hiring spree, looking for skilled workers, engineers, and technicians to fill the ranks necessary for driving this growth - a process that's not only indicative of the resurgence of Metro Detroit's manufacturing base but also a boon to the local job market, according to CBS News Detroit, reinforcing the company's commitment, Sharrow's CEO Greg Sharrow articulated the enterprise’s mission "We're proud to grow our footprint in Detroit and continue building the most advanced propellers the world has ever seen."
