A shooting on Interstate 15 in North Las Vegas has led to traffic disruptions and left one person injured, authorities said. The incident took place early Friday morning, around 2:35 a.m., when gunfire struck a passenger who was traveling southbound near Lake Mead Boulevard, FOX5 Vegas reported. The victim was transported to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition, as per Nevada state troopers.
Traffic has been reduced to two lanes, resulting in significant delays, with vehicles backed up toward Craig Road, as stated by News 3 Las Vegas. While far right travel lanes remain open, the shutdown has created a bottleneck, causing inconvenience for morning commuters. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes such as 5th Street, Losee Road, or Civic Center Drive to avoid the area.
No suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is active and ongoing. State police spokesperson Shawn Haggstrom has confirmed that the details of the shooting are still being investigated, FOX5 Vegas noted. The Nevada Division of Investigation has also been brought in to manage the case, according to News 3 Las Vegas.
A section of I-15 remains closed following a shooting incident earlier this morning. Authorities are working to reopen the impacted lanes, but no estimated time has been provided. The victim’s condition has not been released. Commuters are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays.
