The City of Shoreline is rolling out an event that's steering Shoreline drivers toward a safer, more efficient driving future with the upcoming introduction of roundabouts. According to the City of Shoreline, as part of a push for traffic safety, the event, titled "Roundabout Ready," will be held on July 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shoreline City Hall. Attendees will have the opportunity to go hands-on with a roundabout simulator, posing a chance for residents to prepare to, quite literally, enter the circle of safety this new traffic feature promises.
Understanding that roundabouts can be a new experience for many, the City of Shoreline has invested in education tools like the simulator to help drivers comfortably adapt to the change. "Roundabouts improve traffic flow and reduce serious crashes, but they can be unfamiliar to drivers who haven’t used them before," reads a statement on the municipality's website. To facilitate this transition, the City is also expected to provide updates on the 145th Street Interchange Project, which is set to wrap up construction in early 2026.
Not only will the July 22 event offer a preview of navigating roundabouts, but it will also serve as a platform for city staff and project partners to discuss how these changes will affect daily commutes and increase safety. The roundabout simulator is touted to be a standout feature of the night, giving a practical, immersive educational opportunity.
If you can't manage to swing by the event, look for the City booth at various summer happenings around Shoreline. Instances to try out the roundabout simulator include the Shoreline Farmers Market on July 12 and August 2, Swingin' Summer Eve on July 16, and Celebrate Shoreline on August 16. The City is evidently making a concerted effort to familiarize its residents with this forthcoming traffic scheme.
More information about the roundabout initiative can be sourced directly from the City of Shoreline website, where you can also sign up for weekly updates via Engage Shoreline. Whether you're a seasoned roundabout veteran or a first-timer to the circuit, this event and all associated educational resources are geared towards ensuring Shoreliners are not just ready, but roundabout ready.
