St. Johns County Public Library System (SJCPLS) is rolling out the welcome mat for local businesses and organizations to join in on the second annual Community Connections discount program this Library Card Sign-Up Month, which kicks off this September. According to a recent announcement from the St. Johns County, the program is designed to simultaneously bolster library membership and local commerce by offering deals exclusively to library cardholders.
For businesses looking to snag a spot in this mutual support initiative, the call is out and the clock is ticking—the deadline to join is August 9, 2025, to ensure they get their name listed in all the SJCPLS marketing materials. Following its inception in 2024, the initiative saw 34 local organizations participate, demonstrating success in creating a bridge between literacy and local economic activity. This year's goal, as Debra Rhodes Gibson, Library Director, stated, is "a win-win partnership that promotes literacy, local commerce, and community," as per the St. Johns County's announcement.
Last year, businesses that jumped on board were thrust into the spotlight across various promotional channels, enjoying elevated visibility among the library's substantial network of over 100,000 cardholders. The prospect for 2025 is for an even greater reach, with SJCPLS pledging to stand by their side, offering up marketing support and signage to draw in the patrons and amplify brand awareness.
The logistics are straightforward: throughout September 1–30, customers can flash their SJCPLS card to snag discounts or special offers from participating businesses, encouraging residents not just to engage with their local library but to channel their spending to support those businesses that form the backbone of the county's economy. Interested parties have a clear call to action—visit the SJCPLS website or hit up the library marketing team by email at [email protected] to throw their hat in the ring for this community-centric scheme.
