Bellevue police have captured a man wanted in connection with a fatal April shooting in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood. On Wednesday, officers detained Ayub S. Mohamed for a minor violation—only to discover he was the suspect in a Seattle homicide that occurred earlier this year. The arrest, as reported by the Seattle Police Department's Blotter, went down without any incident.
Following an identification check during the stop, SPD homicide detectives were able to tie Mohamed to the April 26 incident. It was on a First Hill street that a 40-year-old man was fatally shot, and another man was injured. The Seattle Police Blotter has shared that Mohamed is now facing multiple charges, including Assault, Burglary, and 1st Degree Murder.
After the arrest in Bellevue, police booked Mohamed into the King County Jail. No information has been released on a possible motive for the April shooting or details about the second victim's injuries as of now. However, the incident has culminated in serious allegations that have the Seattle community seeking justice.
The repercussions of this crime ripple beyond the charges at hand. A community has been left to sift through the aftermath of violence. Mohamed is currently being held in custody, awaiting his day in court to answer for the charges laid against him. As he sits in a King County Jail cell, the legal process will soon take its course, with no further information regarding his court appearance as of yet.
