On a recent Friday afternoon, a high-speed chase unfolded as two men in a stolen vehicle led Bexar County Sheriff's deputies on a pursuit that sent them speeding through San Antonio streets. The deputies, part of the BCSO Street Crimes Unit, spotted a white Dodge Charger tailgating and speeding near Gibbsprawl and Walzem around 3:00 p.m. A check on the license plate revealed the disturbing truth, it was a stolen 2020 Nissan Rogue, the plate not matching the Charger's identity, according to FOX San Antonio.

Initiating a traffic stop using lights and sirens, the deputies attempted to curb the fugitive adventure of the suspects. However, the driver chose to escalate the peril, the car racing off and weaving through the Windcrest area traffic. According to the News 4 San Antonio report, the stolen 2021 Dodge Charger was also taken from Austin, Texas, compounding the charges the duo would face.

The chase continued onto IH-35 North, during which the San Antonio Police Department's Eagle helicopter joined in pursuit. The aerial unit observed as the suspects continued to drive erratically, creating potential hazards for unsuspecting drivers during peak traffic hours. The dangerous flight ended just past the Kendall County line on IH-10 West, where a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper successfully performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, bringing the stolen vehicle to a crashing halt.

Despite the crash, the two suspects attempted an on-foot escape, darting into a busy parking lot. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Francisco Alvarado, was quickly apprehended by the trooper, and the passenger, 20-year-old Jayden Rubio, was found hiding between a mock silo and a building by DPS. "No injuries were reported to any officers or citizens," stated the FOX San Antonio article, offering a small sigh of relief in the aftermath of the chase. Both men now face serious legal troubles, Alvarado with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest, Rubio, with Evading Detention.
