This Saturday at E. Carroll Joyner Park, the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department will continue its free outdoor movie series with a screening of Mufasa: The Lion King. The movie is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m., but families are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot in the amphitheater. The evening will kick off with a movie-themed pre-show activity for children starting at 7:30 p.m. While the event is open to everyone, attendees are reminded that alcohol, smoking, and unleashed pets are not permitted in the park, according to the Town of Wake Forest's announcement.
The festivities also serve to introduce Julius Jefferson, the recently named Wake Forest Police Chief, who will host a "Meet & Greet" before the film. This opportunity to directly engage with Chief Jefferson from 6:30-8:30 p.m. aims to not just casually introduce him to residents but also to share insights into his approach for the police department. To fully embrace the community vibe, various food vendors will be present to sell an assortment of snacks and refreshments.
In the case of inclement weather, the event might get canceled, with updates to be posted on the Town of Wake Forest's official website, Nextdoor site, and Facebook page. App users who have the Town of Wake Forest application installed on their smartphones will receive push notifications regarding any schedule alterations.
To wrap up this year's movie nights, the final screening is slated for August 2, when "Transformers One" will take to the big inflatable screen.
