An e-bike rider, described as a 73-year-old man, was hospitalized after a collision with a Jeep in Arnold, Westmoreland County, according to reports. The incident, which occurred last night, summoned first responders to the intersection of Constitution Boulevard and Drey Street close to Roosevelt Park, after reports of a vehicle and pedestrian crash were received, as WTAE reported.

Details from the scene suggest that the e-bike was ascending Drey Street when it met with the Jeep, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The vehicle was purportedly making a left turn onto Constitution Boulevard when the crash occurred, and the man on the e-bike was struck. Officials said that the Jeep's driver had not seen the e-bike at the time of the accident. The e-bike rider was conscious and alert following the incident after being transported to AHN Forbes Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Arnold Patrolman Timothy Christian relayed that the injured party was immediately taken by ambulance to the AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, stating, "From my understanding, he’s alert and conscious," in an interview with TribLIVE. Meanwhile, a resident, who identified himself as Scott, disclosed that he heard the crash from his nearby Sixth Street home and hurried to provide aid until emergency services arrived.

According to Scott, the e-bike rider had visible injuries: "a bloody head, elbows and toes," and he remarked on the intersection's notorious danger. He further mentioned that the driver involved was "beyond remorseful," as he told, TribLIVE reported. Hawk Towing of New Kensington facilitated clearing the accident scene. The e-bike was towed shortly after the incident, and the investigation into the crash by local authorities remains ongoing.
