As construction cranes continue to reshape Arlington's skyline, a new addition is making headlines with the recent topping-out ceremony of the Caravan Court Hotel. The event marked a significant milestone in the redevelopment project that is set to rejuvenate the southeast corner of Collins and Division streets, a site once occupied by the Caravan Motel. In partnership with Valencia Hotel Group, Division Hotel Management, LLC, and the City of Arlington, the ceremony was a moment to commemorate the progress and future potential of the area.
Embracing the spirit of the historic Bankhead Highway, the hotel's design mission is clear - to bring a luxury retro-style 'motor court' concept paired with a mid-century aesthetic to life. The final structure will boast 145 rooms tailored for upscale clientele, alongside the iconic Caravan Motor Hotel sign, which will be restored and re-purposed, serving as a nod to the property's past. According to the City of Arlington, the project is slated for completion by May 2026, and local government officials are not shying away from their enthusiasm for the development.
Arlington Mayor Jim Ross highlighted the significance of the project during the ceremony, stating, per the City of Arlington, "Caravan Court is so incredibly important – it is the thing that brings together our Entertainment District and Downtown Area and provides a catalyst for a lot of the transformation that you’re seeing down Division Street and Abram Street, and the changes you will see happening in the future." This vision positions the Caravan Court Hotel as a cornerstone for the city’s growing entertainment and business sectors, bridging the gap between Arlington's Downtown and its Entertainment District. The mayor’s remarks underscore the hotel's role not just as a place to stay but as a fulcrum for broader urban renewal.
