
Baltimore County Fire Department officials and emergency crews faced an unusual task early this morning when they were called to rescue a horse from an 8 to 10-foot pit. According to FOX Baltimore, the incident took place in the 13300 block of Old Hanover Road. Firefighters responded after the animal walked over a wooden plank that subsequently gave way beneath its weight.
Efforts to safely recover the equine began promptly, with crews working diligently to ensure the horse was not injured. The horse was sedated, making it possible to lift it from the pit using a crane carefully. "The horse didn't appear to be injured," Baltimore County Fire Department reported.

A vet was called to the scene as a precautionary measure to assess the horse's condition. The crews' quick response and careful handling of the situation allowed the animal to escape what could have resulted in significant distress or injury.
